Hi friends and family. Sorry its been so long since my last post. As you probably know, Navi and I have been back in the UK for a while. Things have been super hectic.
We’ve had an amazing summer in London though. Its been awesome hanging out with you all, but now its time for us to hit the road.
We are heading to Mexico first for some sunshine and relaxation. Then we plan to head south until we run out of steam.
We think we may be away for up to a year this time but we are a little bit shaky on the budget side. Plus, the culture is going to be a stark contrast to Southeast Asia, maybe we just won’t like it.
Blogging and Freelancing
Blog wise, things may be a little different. Unlike previous trips, the laptops are staying at home. So is the camera and every other electronic device, except our smartphones.
Blogging on a smartphone is going to be challenging but I’m going to try to find a way to make it work.
Freelancing, well, there is no freelancing from a smartphone.
We want to put more emphasis on experiences and less on earning and saving money during this trip. More time outside, less time on the laptop. We loved our freelancing business and we have big plans for it in the future… Just not right now.
Bye-bye Backtotravel Comments
Unless you have been living under a rock for the past year you will have heard that the EU has new data privacy regulations collectively known as GDPR. This has been a massive nightmare for everyone in the EU with a public website including my small group of web clients and my personal website, Backtotravel.com.
Although I make no money from Backtotravel.com, I still had to make the website GDPR compliant.
Currently there are only two ways to do this;
- Plaster the website with pop-ups about personal data and cookies.
- Stop collecting personal data.
I went with the second option.
Sadly, this has meant the end of the comment section at the bottom of the articles and the swanky contact form. Maybe sometime in the future the legislation will relax but until then, I figure its better to be on the safe side.
Smartphone Post Away
Right. So here goes. My first smartphone blog post. Pretty cool eh.
See you on the road.
